چکیده

(Received for publication, January 3, 1958) The relative noradrenaline content of the adrenal gland in young animals was larger than that in adult ones.') Therefore, it is of interest to know whether the relative activities of noradrenaline to adrenaline in young animals differ from those in adult ones. In this view, the pressor action of noradrenaline was compared with that of adrenaline in young dogs in the present study. One female and 4 male dogs, aged 10-16 days and weighing 530-750g., were experimented on in a supine position without general anesthesia. The carotid artery and the femoral vein were exposed under the local anesthesia with 1 % procaine solution. A mercury manometer was connected with the artery in order to record the blood pressure and a small cannula was inserted in the vein for injection. From the standard stock solution 0.1-3.0ƒÊg. Of DL-noradrenaline (Sankyo) or 0.25-4.0ƒÊg. Of L-adrenaline (Sankyo) were taken and diluted up to 1.0 ml. with 0.9% NaCl solution. Each solution was injected through the cannula in 10 seconds. As for the pressor action, DL-noradrenaline was more active than L-adre naline in all cases. The activity ratio of DL-noradrenaline to L-adrenaline was estimated as 1.3:1-4: 1, with the mean value of 2:1. Taking L-noradrenaline to be twice as active as DL-noradrenaline, the activity ratio of L-noradrenaline to L-adrenaline will be 4: 1. Comparison of this figure with that in non-anes thetized adult dogs (1.6: 1-2.0: 1)2) may lead us to the conclusion that the relative pressor action of noradrenaline in young dogs is definitely stronger than that in adult ones.

Blunted pressor response to angiotensin and sympathomimetic amines in bile-duct ligated dogs.

1. The pressor and heart rate response to angiotensin II, noradrenaline, isoprenaline, tyramine and beta-phenylethylamine were examined before and after bile-duct ligation in conscious trained dogs. 2. The pressor response to angiotensin II was markedly suppressed after bile-duct ligation, although responses to noradrenaline and the indirectly acting sympathomimetic amines were only slightly re...

Renal participation in enhanced pressor responses to noradrenaline in patients given hexamethonium.

Ganglion-blockers, such as tetra-ethylammonium (TEA) and hexamethonium, enhance responsiveness to vasoactive agents, both pressor and depressor (1). In dogs, the renal arterial bed seems to contribute to the change in blood pressure response since, after giving TEA, adrenaline causes a larger increase and isopropylnoradrenaline (Isuprel@) a larger decrease in renal vascular resistance than in t...

Importance of central vasomotor effects in angiotensin-induced hypertension.

Ablation of the areas postrema in 10 dogs caused a highly significant reduction in the pressor response to intravenous infusions of angiotensin yet was without significant effect on the pressor response to intravenous infusions of noradrenaline. The reduction in the pressor response to angiotensin is almost certainly due to abolition of the specific central autonomic effects of the hormone whic...

Reversible adrenergic alpha-receptor blocking action of 2,4'-dimethyl-3-piperidino-propiophenone (tolperisone).

The vascular action of 2,4'-dimethyl-3-piperidino-propiophenone hydrochloride (tolperisone hydrochloride), a centrally acting muscle relaxant, was investigated in pentobarbital anesthetized dogs. Tolperisone given intravenously produced a transient hypotension, tachycardia, and hyperventilation. The drug increased the femoral arterial flow, and decreased the superior mesenteric arterial flow fo...
